At present, the general trend in the whole nation is that local public celebrations are called festivals to highlight the significance and importance as well as the scale and nature of these festivals and in fact, people have so far organised eached festival separately… But this year in Dalat, there occurs a very special festive season – festival within festival…

Winter is rushing to Da Lat city, making the pine trees greener, the poinsettias more crimson and the rows of cherry trees quietly pour their last yellow leaves to nurture their pink flower buds ready to spring up to welcome New Year, while the other flowers are still blooming and embellishing the whole city to prepare for the festival… Earth and heaven seem to excitedly welcome major events that occur during the last days of the year…

Among a series of festivals is the celebration of 120 years of Da Lat Founding & Development. Da Lat-known as the City of pine trees, the City of a thousand flowers, the City of poetry and music and recently, the Flower Festival City – is 120 years old… In 120 years, in addition to great efforts and endeavors of Da Lat residents lovers of Da Lat, and trying to contribute strengths, intelligence, hundreds and thousands of different flowers from the wild simple flowers, with no fragrance such wild as sunflowers, cosmos, Marguerite daisies… to splendid, gorgeous flowers, for instance lilies, tulips, lisianthus,… have grown up day after day on this and and continue to expand and adorn the environment and the people and they all want to show off their beauties to make the City of a thousand flowers more brilliant in this momentous celebration…

Next, this is the 5th time Da Lat Flower Festival has been held, therefore with the experience accumulated, this year the festival will be held more solemnly, more carefully, more thoughtfully… particular, this is also the occasion to honor those related professions, from research, nursery, cultivation to consumption and how to keep flowers longer, more durable… And this is an opportunity for people to visit traditional flower villages, such as Van Thanh, Thai Phen, Ha Dong: these villages are greeting visitors with their unique features, for instance, the flower gate, the road of roses… and especially to meet those who have been, are and will be attaching themselves with floriculture and those flower lovers, interested in flowers to exchange information, discuss and figure out the direction and solutions for industries related to flowers to grow stronger in the future…

Also on this occasion, another festival, held to celebrate the National Tourism Year 2014 bearing the theme”Great Highland Jungles is officially opened Coming to the Central Highlands during this season, visitors can see the bright yellow color of the wild sunflowers blossoming in all 5 provinces, from Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong greeting tourists with lots of interesting things from everywhere on this majestic land. Then, in 2014, the whole Central Highlands will be thrilled by the traditional ethnic minority festivals and unique and attractive tours to tourist attractions and eco-tourism resorts, cultural service and entertainment area are not only located in the city, but extended to all the districts and tourist destinations at tribal villages, hamlets, including community-based accommodation in the form of homestay with the local people with products from traditional manufacturing industries such as wood crafts, brocade-weaving, knitting materials, ceramics…

Surely, this time, the Gong & Chime Music Performance to start the festival and welcome delegates is an indispensable image as in any other ethnic minority festivals of indigenous people but on a larger scale with more people and more excitement…
