Ha Giang Location

Ha Giang is a mountainous province in northern Vietnam. Ha Giang province is bordered by Cao Bang province to the east, Yen Bai and Lao Cai provinces to the west, Tuyen Quang province to the south. In the north, Ha Giang borders the Choang and Mieu Van Son ethnic groups in Van Nam Province of the People’s Republic of China.

Which time to Ha Giang the most beautiful

In the period from October to early December, you experience the wonderful season of tam giac mach (triangle flowers). You should choose the end of October, early November is the most beautiful.

Water season, hydroelectric dam (from July 7-8 last years  to February next year) is a very convenient time for traveling on the Gam River in the green, romantic.

How to go to Ha Giang

The distance from Ha Noi to Ha Giang is about 300km, you can go to Ha Giang completely by motorbike from Hanoi, the time is about 8-10 hours depending on the speed as well as the number of members in your group. Starting from Hanoi, you go to Thang Long Bridge, turn to Vinh Phuc – Viet Tri – Phu Tho – Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang.

If you do not have enough time, you can go to My Dinh bus station, take bus to Ha Giang City and then continue to rent motorbikes to go around the districts in Ha Giang.

Suggested Itinerary  for 2 days 2 nights

Day 0: Depart from Hanoi (first night)

Departure from Hanoi in the evening (bus start at 20h10 from My Dinh bus station). Arrive Ha Giang at 4:30 am the next day. A lot of people ask why choose this time to go, if you choose this time then you save the following:

– Save time at night when you can not watch the scene, or if you go to work can go  right from Friday night and Saturday morning you were in Ha Giang.

– Save money because your hotel will be the bed on the bus on the first night

Day 1: Take a photo of Tam Giac Mach (triangle flower) and conquer Lung Cu flag pole

Arrive Ha Giang very early, you should prepare breakfast, after the bus to Ha Giang bus station, you can choose to sleep in the bus until morning (5h30-6h) or choose to move to the monument – landmark zero,it far from Ha Giang new bus station around 2km (You ask anyone around the bus station, they will know).

You can wait in sunrise and have breakfast, preparing for a beautiful journey of today. 6am in Ha Giang began to light. At this time, you also eat breakfast and as personal hygiene, the first point you should choose and can not be ignored is check in the monument and zero milestone.

From mile 0, you go along the National Highway 4C direction Dong Van. On this street, you can not ignore the Bac Xum slope, Quan Ba sky gate, Co Tien mountain, passing through the sky gate of Tam Son town (Quang Ba), you go through Trang Kiem.

Have lunch and rest for about 1 hour. Then, you should keep go for the journey. From Yen Minh, you will have to pass many beautiful mountain passes.

On the way from Yen Minh to Dong Van, you can not miss the Pho Bang (5km) to visit the sleeping town. Here are the ancient houses with unique architecture strange and you can relax and see the triangle flower.

Leaving Pho Bang, the next place is to stop right under the slope of the Sung La. This is place, where the beginning of the flower garden that you still expect. You can visit the white Mong village – where the film “Story of Pao”, admire the Sung La Valley in high heaven, watching and photographing triangle flower.

Traveler often stop at Sao Loc because this is the stop of triangular flowers (because of so many the exploitation so not be beautiful). You should choose the triangle flower on the road to Lung Cu or at the entrance to Dong Van, Lung Tao … According to myself, the location of the triangle flower is best seen on the way to Lung Cu flag pole. Leave the Sung La, the next point you come to Sa Phin, visit the palace of the Vuong family (also known as the Meo King). This is one of the ancient residences of rich families thanks to the opium trade in Ha Giang. From the palace of the Vuong family, you go back to the junction 3, turn left Lung Cu flag pole. Cross Pho La, Ma Le to the Lung Cu flag post – the first pen place on the Vietnam map.

Lung Cu flag tower is an indispensable destination for visitors to Ha Giang. This is the northernmost point of the country and is also the highest and sacred place in Ha Giang.This is a place of historical meaning sacred to be proud of the Vietnamese people.

After the Lung Cu flag pole, you can choose to check milestone 428 and then go to Dong Van or go straight to Dong Van ancient town (Note the time issue because going to mile 428 is completely walk, take up to 3 hours). Dinner and stay in Dong Van, finish the first day.

Day 2: Survival of the Ma Pi Leng and the Road of Happiness

The next morning, you should wake up early from 6:30 am to 7 am for breakfast or go to the market early if available. If you are lucky enough to go on a weekend trip, you will see the Dong Van Market – a highland culture.

Cho Phien is held on Sunday in the center of Dong Van town, Ha Giang province. This is a unique cultural features of the Mong ethnic minority in particular and ethnic minorities in Dong Van in general.

On the day of the market, you can buy yourself a cloth to make souvenirs or a little triangular flower cake as a gift or enjoyment. You can eat the porridge, or sticky rice soup near the central Dong Van. Leave Dong Van, you go to conquer the peak Ma Phi Leng to Meo Vac, Bac Me and back to Ha Giang lunch.

Then back to Hanoi late at night. This section is over 400km long so you need to prepare for health, eating and rest to ensure a safe journey.

What to eat when travel to Ha Giang

– Thắng dền

Thang Den is a delicacies Ha Giang is loved by the young people in the plains when they come here. This is also considered a popular pastry in the city center. Taste are delicious, dark sweet and often eaten in cold weather.

– Thắng cố

Thang Co is a famous specialty of Ha Giang, bearing the cultural characteristics of ethnic people in the highlands. This dish is so popular with many travelers, especially men.
