Location
Truc Lam Yen Tu, also known as Lan pagoda or name is Long Dong Tu is a temple on the Yen Tu mountain, located in the Nam Mau village, Thuong Yen Cong commune, Uong Bi city, Quang Ninh province.
History
In 1293, King Tran Nhan Tong gave embellished, building Lan Pagoda into a splendid spacious, Lan temple became Unicorn Institute, a place to preach, share experiences in meditation. Three monks the Truc Lam was Tran Nhan Tong, Phap Loa and Huyen Quang often come here preaching, sutra lecture. Lan ancient temple is one of the most important temples in the system of the Truc Lam Zen Monastery.
In the war against France, the temple was destroyed almost completely, leaving only the tomb tower system consists of 23 towers, of which the largest tower tomb tower Chan Nguyen (1647-1726).
On 19th January 2002 (Lunar year) built Truc Lam Yen Tu. Works, built with the initiative of the Venerable Thich Thanh Tu, director of Truc Lam Da Lat and the merit of the monks, Buddhists in Viet Nam and around the world.
On the occasion of the birthday of King Tran Nhan Tong, 11th November 2002(lunar year) Truc Lam Yen Tu was officially inaugurated on nearly 5 acres area.
Truc Lam Yen Tu building with three main functions:
The first: research, conservation, storing the texts, bibliographies, cultural publications of Yen Tu, Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen School.
The second: A place for meditation guide for monks, Buddhists and those who want to practice meditation according to Truc Lam Zen.
The third: A place to visit, tourists, pilgrims of Buddha pilgrims.
Architecture of Truc Lam Yen Tu
Truc Lam Yen Tu is situated on a hill with a unicorn figure lay prostrate. Currently Truc Lam Yen Tu gateway still vestiges of the old store, lane width, the two sides have many monks tomb towers.
The main works include the main hall, Ancestor hall, drum tower, bell tower, Accommodation, Arhat hall, decorated in simple, use just national language. In the main hall weighs Sakyamuni copper statue nearly four tons. Behind the main hall, before Truc Lam Tam To have Bodhidharma statue, wooden incense-derived of South America, high 3.2 m, pedestal height 0,65m, width 0.95m, weighs 3.2 tonnes with exquisite carvings. In the main hall wide open space, we can admire the statue of Venerable Thich Thanh Tu.
In front of courtyard placing a ball as the grace red marble Buddha, diameter 1,590m , weighing 6.5 tons were taken from quarries An Nhon, Binh Dinh Province. Ball stone is placed on a pedestal with square cross section, weighing 4 tons, outside the octagon with eight petals surrounds symbolizing religion.
Ball stone was central Viet Nam record books determined: The balls stone as the largest Viet Nam.
In Arhat hall with the eighteen Arhat wooden statues carved delicate, full of posture and gait of each. The left side of the monastery tower has a tree that seven hundred years old, lush foliage.
Truc Lam Yen Tu associated with the legend of King Tran Nhan Tong and Bao Sai on the road to Yen Tu to practice, when they arrive Truc Lam Yen Tu, they stay here. King dreamed that he rode a yellow dragon flying into the beautiful cave, shimmering, lake full lotus, radiating fragrant.
