1. BY TRAIN – RAILWAY

From Ha Noi to Sa Pa and vice versa by train is the best way to go. Tourists often go to Ha Noi train station, take the train to Lao Cai (a city has a border gate with China), traveling by train is convenient, saves time and money for travelers. Departure from Ha Noi Station at night and arrive at Lao Cai station early in the morning, departure from Lao Cai in the evening and arrive at Ha Noi Station early in the morning. To welcome travelers some service providers have upgraded the carriages and set different names for each train. These carriages with amenities such as air conditioner, nice bathrooms, beds, soft chairs … all very clean.

Train from Ha Noi to Lao Cai will stop at the Lao Cai station, from Lao Cai Station to Sa Pa, just less than 40 km, it takes around 1 hour by bus, taxi or private car. If you take the bus, you will get off the bus at the Sa Pa station front the church. if you have hotel, bus will drop off at hotel, bus ticket will be VND 30,000 from Lao Cai station to Sa Pa Center. Taxi fee will be around VND 300 000.

Lao Cai bus comes back in front of the church Sa Pa, they can come pick you up at the hotel you’re in. You should ask the front of the car to Lao Cai. Bus ticket will be VND 30,000.

One train, but there are so many different kind of cabin and belong to some different company.

There are nine trains from Ha Noi to Sa Pa, train number SP1, SP3, SP5, SP7, LC1, LC3, LC5, LC7, LC9. Train number LC5, LC7, LC9 only use on holiday such as Lunar New Years, National Day,… and Peak season from October to May next year.

Departure at Ha Noi train station at 21:10pm, 21:50pm, 19:40pm, 20:35pm, 22:00pm, 6:10am.

There are nine trains from Sa Pa to Ha Noi, train number SP2, SP4, SP6, SP8, LC2, LC4, LC6, LC8, LC10. Train number LC6, LC8, LC10 only use on holiday such as Lunar New Years, National Day… and and Peak season from October to May next year.

Departure at Lao Cai Station at 20:05pm, 20:45pm, 18:55pm, 19:30pm, 21:20pm, 9:15am, 21:30pm.

It takes from 8 hours to 10 hours, depend on what kind of train you book.

2. BY BUS – ROAD

Nowadays, from Ha Noi to Sa Pa and vice versa, they will go on highway Ha Noi – Lao Cai, about 320 km, it takes around 5 hours, the fee from VND 250 000 to VND 300 000 for 1 way ticket. You can buy ticket from some bus company, we recommend as below:
